Present perfect simple x Present perfect continuous

Present perfect simple: relate a past action to the present and suggests a completed action and focus more on achievements and results and it's often used conjunction
ex:Have you ever tried japanese food?

Present perfect continuous: relate a past action to the present, it suggest that the activity is not complete yet. It's often used conjunctions: for and since
ex:I've been living in Rio de Janeiro since 1992.

  1. Two questions:

    1. Can we use Present Perfect and Present Perfect Continuous in the same situations?
    e.g.
How long have you studied English?
How long have you been studying English?

    2. Why is it so hard for Brazilians to understand the Present Perfect?
